The World Bank has expressed readiness to launch new reconstruction and recovery projects in Sudan within the next two months. President Ajay Banga said the Bank is fully committed to assisting Sudan in restoring essential sectors such as health, education, and the environment, citing ongoing progress in coordination with Sudanese authorities.
Sudan’s Minister of State for Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdel Daim, confirmed that the government is pursuing economic and institutional reforms to stabilize the transition to civilian rule. He emphasized that these reforms are key to rebuilding confidence and attracting international development support.
Banga, speaking during meetings of the African Group at the World Bank in New York, unveiled a continental initiative to promote agricultural transformation through infrastructure investment and private-sector collaboration. The program targets 250 million smallholder farmers by 2030, aiming to create sustainable employment opportunities.
Observers say Sudan’s participation in such initiatives could accelerate its post-war recovery, provided that governance and stability continue to improve.
