Sudan’s Prime Minister Underscores Agriculture as Pillar of Economic Recovery

Prime Minister Dr. Kamel Idris reiterated on Wednesday the Hope Government’s dedication to revitalizing Sudan’s agricultural sector, describing it as essential to economic growth and food self-sufficiency.

He made the remarks while meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Prof. Dr. Ismat Qureshi Abdullah, who returned from an inspection visit to the Northern State. The minister reported that preparations are underway to plant over one million feddans this winter, with major allocations for wheat and Egyptian beans.

Dr. Abdullah also detailed his tour of Nile Poultry Company, a key arm of the Agricultural Development Authority, which has demonstrated success in both production and social responsibility initiatives. He added that the company is expanding operations into Gezira, Rahad, Suki, and Fao irrigation schemes to boost agricultural output.
