The Sudanese Electricity Company has finalized a contract with China’s XD Company to supply seven high-capacity transformers for use in the nation’s power generation stations.
The deal was signed in Cairo by Yasser Shazly, Director General of the Sudanese Transmission Company, alongside XD’s Director of Development, with Energy Minister Moatasem Ibrahim witnessing the signing.
Minister Ibrahim highlighted the project’s importance, saying the transformers will play a vital role in stabilizing Sudan’s electricity network at a time of rising demand. He urged both sides to expedite production despite the lengthy process typically required to manufacture such equipment.
The Minister further praised Sudan’s longstanding energy ties with China, particularly in electricity and oil, calling the cooperation “a partnership of shared benefit.”
XD’s general manager pledged to accelerate delivery, while Sudan Electricity Company Director Abdullah Ahmed Mohamed Ali explained that the new transformers will enhance transmission efficiency and support communities where displaced residents are returning.
