The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has welcomed the recent statement by the spokesperson for the High Commissioner for Human Rights, which condemned the rebel militia’s assault on the besieged city of El Fasher and its crimes in the Abu Shouk displacement camp.

The Ministry expressed appreciation for the Commission’s clear rejection of the militia’s ethnically motivated killings and its grave violations of international humanitarian law.

In its statement, the Ministry reiterated its call for the United Nations and its relevant bodies to go beyond words of condemnation and take urgent, deterrent action against the Al-Dagalo militia. It urged enforcement of Security Council Resolution 2736, lifting the siege on El Fasher, and formally designating the group as a terrorist organization.
