Egypt to Convene New Round of Sudanese Peace Talks

Cairo is set to host Sudanese political forces in mid-November for a new phase of dialogue aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict, according to officials from the National Umma Party. The meeting follows recent consultations held in Nyon, Switzerland, facilitated by the organization “Promediation” and supported by the Swiss Foreign Ministry.

The Nyon discussions brought together multiple Sudanese factions, including the Civil Democratic Alliance (Sumud), the Democratic Bloc Alliance, and other political movements. Participants reached a consensus on ending the war and establishing a civilian democratic state, although some pro-army factions boycotted the event due to Sumud’s participation.

National Umma Party Secretary-General Al-Wathiq Al-Brair said the Cairo meeting on November 15 continues regional efforts to promote an inclusive Sudanese dialogue. He underscored that any lasting solution must be led by Sudanese actors and supported by international coordination among key partners.

He also highlighted urgent priorities such as declaring a temporary ceasefire to enable humanitarian access, ensuring fair representation of all political groups, and addressing the root causes of the crisis to pave the way for a stable and democratic Sudan.
