Adawi Urges Broader Egyptian-Sudanese Banking Integration

Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Emad El-Din Mustafa Adawi, has called for expanding banking integration opportunities between Sudan and Egypt as a key step toward strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries. He stressed that closer coordination between financial institutions can play an important role in supporting recovery and development.

Adawi made these remarks while addressing the third preparatory workshop for the second Egyptian-Sudanese Business Forum in Cairo, held under the theme “Banking Integration Between Egypt and Sudan.” He urged banks to direct financing toward urgent sectors linked to infrastructure development and productive activities.

He also called for the creation of financing portfolios dedicated to supporting strategic and rural commodities and related economic activities. According to the ambassador, accelerating integration with Egypt, which has significant banking expertise and advanced automation systems, would help improve efficiency and decision-making in Sudan’s banking sector.

Adawi added that simplifying procedures and incentivizing investors would increase the volume of transactions and mutual interests between the two countries. He concluded by highlighting national efforts, including those of the Central Bank of Sudan, to restore confidence in the banking system and help it overcome the impacts of the war.
