Sudan and Turkey have agreed to resume construction on the second phase of the Kalanayeb Electricity Project in Red Sea State, a development expected to significantly improve power supply in the region.
Energy Minister Mu’tasim Ibrahim Ahmed assured Turkish energy firms Simyokntr and Lamatak that Khartoum is committed to overcoming obstacles and completing the project on schedule. He also confirmed that financial backing has been arranged with the African Export-Import Bank.
Turkey’s ambassador to Sudan, Fatih Yildiz, said energy remains a strategic priority for Sudan and pledged that Turkish expertise will be leveraged to strengthen Sudan’s electricity sector and assist in post-war reconstruction.
