Authorities Warn of Life-Threatening Flooding in White Nile, Khartoum, and Nile River

Sudan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has issued a stark warning of extreme flooding risks in three states, predicting that surging waters from the Blue and White Niles will swell rivers and floodplains from Saturday until Monday night.

Officials urged people living near the Nile to immediately move to safer, higher ground and protect their farms, animals, and belongings from the rising waters. The ministry advised residents to keep food, drinking water, important documents, and medical supplies in waterproof containers.

The Early Warning Unit stressed that floodwaters could be deadly if they come into contact with power lines. Citizens were strongly encouraged to remain alert and comply with government instructions, including possible evacuation orders.
