Sudan, China Reaffirm Strong Economic and Diplomatic Partnership

Sudanese officials have praised China’s extensive contributions to the country’s development, underscoring a decade-long partnership that continues to grow.

At a ceremony bidding farewell to Chinese Chargé d’Affaires Zhang Xianghua, Finance Ministry Undersecretary Mohammed Bashar cited Sudan’s oil project, the Merowe Dam, the Roseires Dam heightening, and the Friendship Hall as examples of China’s “monumental” role in Sudan’s progress.

Ambassador Mahmoud Hamza of the Foreign Ministry’s Asian Department commended the Chinese Embassy’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, adding that Sudan and China consistently support one another in international arenas. He said the government looks forward to “a new phase of reconstruction and development with the support of friends like China.”

For his part, Zhang expressed gratitude for the Sudanese people’s hospitality and pledged to continue backing projects that enhance cooperation and productivity. He said his years in Sudan were “deeply significant” and expressed confidence that ties would only strengthen in the years ahead.
